Confirmed locations for the basketball competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille will host the group stage, while Accor Arena in Paris will host the championship matches. FIBA just revealed that the 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournament will take place in two different locations. Olympic fans can buy Olympic Basketball Tickets from our website.
The Stade
Pierre-Mauroy in Lille will host the tournament's group stage. Basketball games
will be held there again, despite the fact that LOSC Lille's football matches
are the stadium's main use. The games of the EuroBasket 2015 championship took
place in Pierre-Mauroy, which can accommodate up to 27,500 people when
transformed into an indoor arena.
However, the deal hasn't been fully approved yet. The
conditioning facilities at the arena are currently a source of worry for FIBA.
The organizers must implement an air conditioning solution to keep the court
from becoming slick before the confirmation can be made.
The competition will go to the French capital after the
group stage is complete. The remaining teams will be greeted at Accor Arena,
which can accommodate up to 15,609 basketball spectators.
The group stage was supposed
to be held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles initially. However, a number of
French basketball players, including Evan Fournier and Rudy Gobert, voiced
their opposition to the tournament's location. The plans to have basketball
games there were scrapped due to a technical issue with the arena, which was
justified by an official explanation.
With Paris 2024 as a goal, China names
former Serbian coach Djordjevic as its men's basketball head coach.
The Chinese men's basketball team has appointed
Serbian Aleksandra "Saa" Djordjevic as its new head coach in an
effort to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games competition. At the 2014
International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup in Spain, Djordjevic led
his nation to a runner-up position. He also led his team to a silver medal at
the 2016 Summer Olympics.
He last managed Serbia in China, at the FIBA
Basketball World Cup 2019, stepping down after his team ended in fifth
position. The appointment as head coach of the Chinese men's national team is a
huge honour, Djordjevic stated on social media.
"Big professional challenge accepted with the
same level of zeal and responsibility as my own personal responsibilities. There
is still a tonne of work to be done to try to accomplish the greatest
objectives.
In the sixth and final window of the Asian Qualifiers
for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in February, Djordjevic will represent
China. China has already qualified for the FIBA World Cup after sweeping Group
F thus far, winning eight of their ten games.
In the 32-team competition, which will be held in
Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines, China will look to improve upon its
24th-place performance from the previous year, which was its lowest placing
ever in the competition.
China missed Tokyo 2020 last year, its first Olympics
absence since 1980. The nation's eighth-place finish at the FIBA Asia Cup last
year was also its second-worst performance ever.
For the first time since 2010, the U.S.
men's basketball team falls out of the top spot in the FIBA rankings.
For the first time since 2010, the American men's
basketball team was no longer ranked top in the world by FIBA. Thanks largely
to their EuroBasket victory in September, Spain edged over the United States by
a narrow margin in the most recent rankings update.
Sergio Scar iolo of Spain wrote, "I am incredibly proud of
everyone who... have contributed to it. It's not really a new title and it
probably can't be kept for too long, but it's something so unique,
distinguished and historic that I feel tremendously pleased of it. Olympic fans can buy Paris Olympic 2024 Tickets

All games played by 164 national teams in the top
official FIBA events and their qualifiers throughout an eight-year period are
used to determine the FIBA rankings. Greater recent games, opponent strength,
and level of competition are given more weight.
While the United States won its fourth straight
Olympic gold medal in Tokyo, it also finished third at the America in September
and lost to Spain in the 2019 World Cup quarterfinals.
At the America, a competition for countries in North
and South America, the United States used mostly G League players and no NBA
stars because qualification for the 2023 World Cup or the 2024 Olympics was not
at risk.
The last
nation other than the United States to hold the top spot was Argentina, most
recently in 2010. After claiming victory at the 2010 World Championship, the
Americans reclaimed the top rank.
Gianmarco Pozzecco, the coach, is
anticipated to see Paolo Banchero on Monday.
Paolo Banchero will be met by Coach
Pozzecco and other representatives of the Italian federation today in the USA
in an effort to persuade him to play for the Italian national team at the 2017
FIBA World Cup.
On Sunday, Salvatore Trainotti, the
general manager of the national team, Gianmarco Pozzecco, and other
representatives of the Italian federation will go for the United States. Meeting
Paolo Banchero and persuading him to play for the "Squadra Azzurra"
in the upcoming FIBA World Cup is the mission's stated objective.
According to "Il Corriere dello Sport,"
coach Pozzecco and Banchero should meet on Monday following the Orlando Magic
and Milwaukee Bucks game. The discussion between Banchero and the Italian
federation's leadership will cover more than just the technical aspects.
The federation will also present to the Orlando Magic
rookie a number of business prospects as part of the mission in the USA in
order to boost his popularity in Europe and Asia through sponsorship
arrangements.
A detailed summer programming schedule will also be
given to the Magic by Coach Pozzecco and Salvatore Trainotti. The Italian
federation representatives intend to meet with Utah Jazz forward Simone
Fontecchio when they are in the country.
Banchero, who
is having a strong rookie campaign with the Magic, has frequently expressed his
desire to compete for the Italian NT. He still hasn't made up his mind about
whether or not he'll participate at the FIBA World Cup this summer. In addition
to 21.8 points per game, Banchero also grabs 6.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
To replace Oded Kattash, Maccabi is reportedly
examining four candidates.
Apple Playtika After losing to FC Bayern
Munich on Friday, Tel Aviv has lost five of its previous six Euro League
contests and remains the only team without a road victory. The Israeli team is
considering parting ways with head coach Oded Kattash, according to Moses Bard
of ONE.co.il. The journalist writes that there are four substitute
alternatives.
First up is Pablo Laso, who was released
by Real Madrid last summer and has yet to find a team. The Spanish expert has
stated that he is available for employment and is just waiting for an opening.
Then, there is talk of the improbable return of
Ioannis Sfairopoulos. After a string of defeats on the local and international
levels, Maccabi sacked the Greek coach last year. The specialist was called by
Zalgiris Kaunas last spring when they were looking for a new coach, but
Sfairopoulos himself rejected the team's offer since he was seeking a more
sought-after coaching position in Europe.
The third choice on the list is Igor Milicic, who
advanced the Polish national team to the semifinal of EuroBasket 2022. Sergio
Hernandez, an expert from Argentina who most recently coached Casademont
Zaragoza and the Argentinian national team, is the fourth candidate. He
assisted them in winning the silver medal at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
