How to enter the Paris 2024 football tournament. The qualification process for the Olympics
Football is not only a global favorite but also one of the more traditional Olympic sports. See below for all the information you require regarding the number of teams, stars to watch, and route to Paris. Olympic fans can buy Olympic Football Tickets from our website.
With
the exception of Los Angeles 1932, football has been a staple of the Olympic
Games since 1900, making it one of the oldest sports on the schedule. The
women's game was added to the schedule in Atlanta in 1996 and has since been a
staple.
The
sport will return to Paris in 2024, the city where football made its Olympic
debut. Two days ahead of the Opening Ceremony, on July 24, the tournament gets
underway. As in Tokyo 2020, there will be a total of 28 teams competing (12 in
the women's tournament and 16 in the men's), and the games will be held at six
different locations:
Paris (Parc
des Princes stadium)
·
Nantes
·
Lyon
·
Saint-Etienne
·
Marseille
·
Nice
·
Bordeaux

in qualification competitions.

Footballers to
keep an eye on
The
USA, who have won the women's tournament four times, will always be among the favourite.
By the time of the Olympics in Paris in 2024, Megan Rapine, one of the biggest
names in football, will be 39 years old and aiming for a second gold medal.
The current
Olympic champions, Canada, will look to defend their title at the following
Games. Brazil, meanwhile, will be without past greats like Formiga, who has
been a fixture at every competition since Atlanta 1996, but they still have
strength in their ranks thanks to forwards BIA Zaneratto and Debinha.
Tokyo silver
medalists in Europe Sweden, which is now ranked second by FIFA, will rely on
Emma Blackstenius' leadership as they try to advance to yet another Olympic
Games. The 2021 UEFA European Women's Football Player of the Year, Alexia Patella’s,
plays for Spain, while France, currently rated third, will have a nation behind
them as they compete in their home Olympic Games.
Brazil, the current FIFA Under-17 World Champions, will be going for their third straight Olympic
victory in the men's sport. Arnaud Kalimuendo of the host country France was a
standout in the Under 17 competition, scoring five goals. He then scored 12
goals for his club team Lens last season. Who could forget Kylian Mbappe, the
world-renowned athlete who has expressed a desire to compete in the Paris Games?
Watch out for Wilfried Gnonto
of Italy, who scored three goals at the Under 17 World Cup. Additionally, he
was a member of the team during the UEFA Nations League tournament and contributed
to a goal against Germany while scoring five goals in 10 games for club team
Zurich during a title run.
